Thomas (Tom) J. Ulinski, loved and admired by family and friends, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, in Neptune, NJ. Tom was born in Paterson, NJ. He grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ, lived for many years in Bernardsville, NJ, and was a resident of Westlake in Jackson, NJ, for the past seven years. Tom attended Columbia University in New York City, where he pursued a degree in Pharmacy and was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Tom spent more than 45 years as a flavor chemist and developed a number of documented formulas while working with Florasynth, Flavorence Corp., Harmon and Reimer Corp., and, most recently, Signature Flavors. Tom enjoyed his work and took pleasure in using his knowledge of flavor chemistry in his kitchen, where he delighted guests by creating savory new dishes and sauces.

Another of Tom’s great pleasures was spending time in Wildwood, NJ, with his sister, Joann, brother-in-law, Cliff, and nieces, Alana and Lauren, and their families. He also derived many years of pleasure from his association with the Porsche Club of America. He and his wife, Joan, who passed away in 2002, spent many weekends showing off their cherished 1983 Porsche, while winning a number of trophies and awards in car shows around the metropolitan area. Everyone who knew Tom knew about his love for his furry companion, Bella, who will miss sitting in his lap at the kitchen table. Tom will be remembered as a devoted and caring dad to Elissa, a proud grandfather to her son, Ethan Ulinski, a loving brother to Peter Ulinski and Joanne (Ulinski) Downey, a dear uncle to Vicki, Alana, and Lauren and their families, a talented coworker, and a warm and helpful friend to many.

Visitation will be held at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. 2015 A graveside service will take place at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 95 Mount Airy Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6. – See more at:  Online Obituary
